Triglav, jebi se!

Here are some photos that Peter Giodani took at Safari vol.7. Looks like Napravi Mi Dete is the band everybody has been waiting for since they sold out the venue at their first gig. I think it was beyond what we expected- great job girls and guys! I hope you'll have lots of gigs from now on and I want to go to all of them:)
After Napravi Mi Dete the awesome Mr. Gucci from Smetnjak took over the stage, then N'toko and then me (PlankTon had the role of opening DJ this time). Koala did some visual magic, as usual. It was a fun night, thank to everyone who participated and to everyone who came to support this incredible new band. See you next time!

Napravi Mi Dete

It's been a long time since I've been so excited about an event. Well, to be honest, since the Fashion Crisis two weeks ago, but this is giving me a thrill as well:) Seven is supposed to be a magic number and for the 7th edition of Safari we booked a supernatural band 'Napravi Mi Dete' (the translation of the name would be 'Make Me a Baby'). With super powers that make you love them immediately:) Check out the videos bellow to see for yourself:)
What makes me like them even more is the fact that they sound like they could be a Koenji band. While going to gigs in Koenji I always thought how unique this aesthetic is and that we don't have any bands like this in Slovenia. But now- we have:) Underground pop? Makes me happy and nostalgic at the same time...
After the gig Mr.Gucci from Smetnjak will take over and make us dance!!! You're most welcome to join us:)

SAFARI VOL.7
NAPRAVI MI DETE

In the april edition of Safari we are proud to welcome electronic pop mutants NAPRAVI MI DETE! Members of outstanding bands We Can't Sleep at Night and Coma Stereo have gathered around oddball vocalists Kukla and Eva, forming a crew we quite frankly don't know what to expect from. Mr.Gucci from the Smetnjak crew will be bringing the dirt after the gig along with residents N'toko, Zana, PlankTon, and visual artist Koala™.

Questionable Image

Kind of late, but better than never- photos from Safari vol.6 (Gromka, 22nd March). BeatMyth's live performance supported by Felis Catus, Safari's resident DJs (PlankTon, N'toko, me) and VJ Koala. It was fun!

Coon and Friends

Last week Ian Martin and Kaname K (one half of Trinitron) came to pay us a visit. We were hanging out in Ljubljana, Piran, Sentjernej, Kostanjevica and Venice. Lots of Bonanzas and Monday Clubs that stretched out beyond Mondays. The highlight of our 'tour' was of course Fashion Crisis 3rd Anniversary party at Menza Pri Koritu which tried to bring some of Koenji's magic to the Slovenian audience. Eight unconventional DJ's played music that many people never heard before. Kaname K served us with some Japanese girly pop and rock like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Yamaguchi Momoe, Ian played his favorite post punk bands like Zibanchinka and Praha Depart along with the newest beats by Tokyo's electro godfather Nakata Yasutaka, Saturna went on all psychadelic in her Barbarella costume dancing to her retro/ East-German electro. Svemir Mango, the new hot DJ team, were bombing the place with swag and zef and just didn't let you stay still. Their mixture of bounce, Baltimore, Bollywood and exotic electronica was irresistible. My personal highlight of the evening was Bravo Urska who shocked the place with her finest selection of Korean Pop. At the first tune the people in the front (K-pop fans) went crazy since this was probably the first time in history K pop was played in Slovenian clubs (let me know if I'm wrong) and the rest of the crowd was left standing with their mouths open and eyes confused- “ I like it, but- am I allowed to?” Eventually everybody was dancing and enjoying something they were not completely sure of what it was:) After Bravo Urska my alter DJ ego Shanti Priya came out and I played some of the latest hits from Bollywood. It made me dangerously happy, after all, Bollywood IS my favorite music:) The last one on stage was Shampoo Guy. That's Miha's new stage persona that plays 'showinist' bounce. Whatever that is- his performance was epic. So, the party we threw was awesome and super trashy, thanks to everyone who contributed in any way- by DJ-ing, dancing, vomiting, looking fabulous, being funny... Thanks also to Lea, who provided us with glamorous shoes- I'll write about her in another blog entry.

Next day we started to work on a new project- owning things and places. It resulted in a series of photos of Ian with his arm wide spread above different panoramas. A true conquerer:)
Our last Monday Club together was on Ester Sunday in Venice. We found an Italian restaurant run by Chinese, decorated with fake old fashioned Italian paintings. As close to Saizeriya as it gets, right?
Saying good bye was sad, but since we'll see each other in two months again, I guess I'll survive:) Anyway, we failed to shoot a video for Trinitron again- we wanted to do it in Varanasi, then in Ljubljana, then in Italy. But we had too much to talk about so we forgot. Maybe Tokyo!
